Marla Glen is one of my favorite artists. She has such a unique story and sings with soul in every song she puts out. I first heard her voice and story in a little music shop in Ashland Oregon and had to find out who was singing. I have been a fan ever since.

I had to hunt to find her only American release, and after having not yet listening to it, I shelled out 15 bucks for a CD that is almost always on the stereo. Her smoky voice mixed with simple, elegant instrumentals make Marla Glen's music great for all sorts of times. Best Of is a great introduction to her music, and while it seems expensive now, the play you'll get with it makes this CD totally worth it!

Fascinating Story of Triumph and Determination!

Marla’s musical talents emerged at the age of five when Muddy Waters gave her a toy harmonica. The way she sought to master that showed the innate determination to do whatever she wanted, and that also applied to when Marla decided ‘he’ didn’t want to ever wear a dress again, preferring to live life as a boy.

During his teenage years, Marla drifted across the country performing his own songs at open mic nights.  In the 80’s the young talent had chance meetings with two major stars who both recognized his gifts and encouraged him to practice his music.

Those efforts paid off in 1989 when Marla was invited to perform at a festival in France. This signaled the start of a career that allowed Marla become a major star across Europe, winning gold and platinum awards for the singer/songwriter’s original music, but while being thrust into a whirlwind of success, Marla was ruthlessly ripped off.

Knowing he’d been a victim of his naivety as well as his talent, Marla never gave up on himself despite a further slew of shady promoters and investors after a move to Germany.
